HTTPS support for your sites hosted on CloudCannon

CloudCannon offers free SSL by default on every site and serves them over HTTPS. This is made possible by ZeroSSL and Cloudflare. These certificates are automatically renewed before they expire.

Important

When your custom domain is the apex domain, the Automatic SSL will be generated including the www subdomain.

If your www subdomain is not a site on CloudCannon or if it’s being redirected to the apex externally, it might fail to generate the SSL.

Please see the Wildcard Redirect section for more information.

Wildcard Redirect and Wildcard SSL

CloudCannon also offers wildcard redirects and a wildcard SSL Certificates for all first level subdomains of your configured custom domain.

To enable wildcard redirect and SSL on your site:

  1. Go to Site Settings / Custom domain / HTTPS
  2. Set Validation Method to DNS TXT Record
  3. Toggle the Generate a wildcard certificate to enable SSL option
  4. Click Update SSL
  5. Follow the  instructions to add the TXT record to your DNS.
