A Project allows you to group multiple Sites A website in CloudCannon that includes all the files, content, configuration, and settings needed to edit, build, and host a complete website.Site
To create a Project:
- Click the Projects button in the App Sidebar.
- If you already have a Project, CloudCannon will open the Projects Browser and you should click the + Create Project button in the top right. Otherwise, CloudCannon will open the Create a Project page directly.
- On the Create a Project page, select your Git Provider. If you have not authorized your Git Provider, please read our documentation on authorizing your Git Provider.
- Select the Git Repositoryfor your Project. This can be a Repository that is already connected to a Site on CloudCannon.Glossary term
Git Repository
A storage location for the code and files that make up your website. CloudCannon supports the repository providers GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, and highly recommends using a repository to store your website's files for better version control and collaboration.
- Use the Allow all branching switch to define whether team members can create new branches from any branch in this Project. By default, this is off.
- (Optional.) Enter the name of your Main Branch. This needs to match the name of a branch in your Git Repository.Glossary term
Main Branch
The branch in your Git Repository that represents your live or production content within a Project. The Main Branch determines where new branch Sites are created from and where changes are published to by default.
- Click the Create Project button.
CloudCannon will open the Project Sites Browser. If you do not have any branches from this Repository connected to a CloudCannon Site, this page will be empty. Otherwise, all your connected CloudCannon Sites will appear in the Project Sites Browser.
Once you have created your Project, you can add Sites to it. This includes connecting existing branches as Sites or creating new branch Sites for your team members.
