A Client Organization is a separate Organization A workspace in CloudCannon that groups together Sites, team members, and shared resources. It is also the unit CloudCannon bills for. You can define permissions for your Organization, controlling the access each team member has to resources on CloudCannon. You can create and be a part of multiple Organizations. A CloudCannon Organization that belongs to a member of the Partner Program and serves as their base for managing client work. From their Partner Organization, Partners create and manage Client Organizations and track their Partner Points.Organization

Handing over and detaching are separate actions, and you can do either without the other. Ending an engagement completely usually means both, in that order: hand over control so your client can run the Organization themselves, then detach it so your Partner Organization no longer manages it.
Hand over a Client Organization#
When you create a Client Organization, CloudCannon automatically adds the person who created it to the Owners Permission Group One of CloudCannon's Default Permission Groups. Owners have complete control over everything in your Organization, including managing billing settings, deleting Organizations, and creating Custom Permission Groups.Owners
Members of the Owners Permission Group and the Partner Permission Group can perform the same actions, allowing you to set up the Organization. When you are ready to hand over control to your client, add them to the Owners Permission Group so they can run the Organization themselves. For more information, please read our documentation on adding a Team Member to a Permission Group.
Handing over control does not change your Partner Organization's access. Your team still reaches the Client Organization through the Partner Permission Group, the Organization still counts toward your Partner Points Points earned in the CloudCannon Partner Program for each active client and the seats they use. CloudCannon can also award additional points for milestones and campaigns. As your points grow, your partnership moves through partner tiers that unlock benefits and a downloadable Expert Badge.Partner Points
Removing yourself from the Owners Permission Group does not end your access either, because CloudCannon mirrors your Partner Organization's Owners into the Partner Permission Group of every Client Organization you manage. To step back from a Client Organization entirely, detach it. For more information, please read our documentation on how Partners access their Client Organizations.
Detach a Client Organization#
Detaching a Client Organization isn't a self-serve action. To detach an Organization, coordinate with our support team.
Detaching breaks the link between a Client Organization and your Partner Organization, leaving the Client Organization to run on its own.
When you're ready to detach the Client Organization from your Partner Organization, contact our support team. Have the following ready:
- Your Partner Organization name.
- The Client Organization name.
- Who will take over billing for the Organization once it's independent.
Detaching ends the access your team had through the Partner Organization. CloudCannon removes the Partner Permission Group from the Client Organization, so anyone who reached it through that group can no longer open it. Any Team Members A person who belongs to the same Organization as you. Team members are other CloudCannon users who have been invited to your Organization to collaborate on Sites, edit content, or manage settings. Each team member has their own CloudCannon account with individual permissions assigned through Permission Groups. A group that defines what permissions team members have in CloudCannon. Permission Groups allow you to make Resources available to your team members and define what actions are allowed (Read, Write, or Create) for each resource. CloudCannon provides several Default Permission Groups (including Owners, Developers, Technical Editors, Editors, and Billing) and you can create Custom Permission Groups for more granular control. A set of features available to your Organization, the monthly usage limits for resources, and the price you pay for access to those features and resources, monthly or annually. Each Organization in CloudCannon can have one Subscription Plan, and can update or cancel at any time.Team Member

Detaching does not change which payment method the Organization uses. If you were paying for the Client Organization, remove your payment method so your client's card is the one charged. For more information, please read our documentation on managing your payment methods.
After it's detached, the Organization no longer counts toward your Partner Points.
Point your client to their own documentation#
Your client may want to understand the handover from their side, or start it themselves. For an explanation written for them, please read our documentation on taking over an Organization from a partner.
