Site screenshot fixes

This release untangles several issues with site screenshots in the device view, as seen in the Home Dashboard and Projects list. Rebuilding your site will now correctly display the screenshot of your site.

We've also included a fix for some malformed Cloudinary URLs.

This release includes a visual update to our in-app notifications, better communication about organization billing, and some behind-the-scenes performance improvements.

For new users, this release adds a short questionnaire at the end of the sign up flow. By answering three quick questions, new users can tailor their initial experience and better see how CloudCannon can work for them.

Also included are fixes to a couple of visual bugs.

Subscription and account improvements

This release improves the workflows around viewing and changing your subscription. The safeguard requirements are now clearer when deleting accounts and organizations. Various issues around cloning files and linking existing files are also included.

• Linking to existing files no longer using incorrect relative link.

Better uploads paths

This release improves on our existing custom uploads paths feature. You can now choose where to upload files within a DAM. Setting the uploads path is now more flexible with a new, backward-compatible placeholder pattern that can use more of your data within the paths.

Features:

• Improved paths.uploads option to set where new site files upload to. Available globally and per input.
• New paths.dam_uploads to set where new DAM files upload to. Available globally and per input.
• New paths.dam_static to set a mount path where new DAM files upload to, but is excluded from the path saved. Available globally and per input.
• New placeholder style for the paths above.
• New option in Site Settings / Details to disable browsing for site files when selecting Use Existing File from the editor. This allows you to have a DAM as a single source of files/images/assets for team members.

GitHub App integration

This release supports integrating with GitHub through GitHub Apps, enabling fine-grained permission on access to repositories and reducing permissions scope. All existing GitHub integrations will continue to work.

Features:

• 🆕 GitHub App integration.
• Fine grained permission on GitHub repositories access. Only grant access to a limited number of repositories.
• Reduced the number GitHub permissions required.
• A new GitHub OAuth will conduct all logins with GitHub. As a result of this upgrade, you might need to authorize your account again.
• Included are steps to migrate to the new GitHub App integration, found in Organization Settings > Files > GitHub. Once migrated, a confirmation email will provide a link to revoke any old authentication in GitHub.
• Input configuration support for array items, through nested selectors (e.g. _inputs.gallery[*]).

Fixes:

• Fixed issue not updating tokens when logging in with a storage provider.
• Fixed error message displayed when failing to authenticate with storage provider.

Reduced SSL expiry warnings

August 19th, 2022 | Minor

This release reduces the number of emails sent about SSL certificate expiry warnings. An influx of SSL warnings were recently sent due to a change from the Certificate Authority. Historically, CloudCannon has used HTTP validation to generate wildcard certificates for all connected domain names. Wildcard certificates can no longer be generated with HTTP validation due to a decision by the Certificate Authority/Browser forum. The certificates which were previously generated using this method start to expire on September 1st 2022.

A number of emails were recently sent to add a TXT record to continue using a wildcard certificate. Since sending these emails we have concluded that only certificates on the apex (e.g. example.com) will need to add this record. A number of emails were sent for subdomain wildcard records (e.g. www.example.com) which should be ignored. If the TXT record is not added by the expiry date, we will fallback to a non-wildcard certificate to keep your site live and secure. We will be reaching out to individuals again with a follow up email. Reach out to support if you have any questions or concerns.

Google Cloud Storage Buckets

This release adds Google Cloud Storage Buckets as a new DAM integration option in CloudCannon Assets. Read our documentation to learn how to set up a Google Cloud Storage Bucket with CloudCannon.

Also included are a couple of bug fixes, and visual updates to our log in and sign up pages.
