Project and Domain page updates

October 19th, 2023 | Major

This release updated the appearance and functionality of the Project and Domain pages. These pages now have full-width lists, and a settings tab for editing your details. It also added new tasks and a dismiss function to the Organization setup task list, updated red UI elements for better accessibility, and added the capacity for files to update to new structure values.

This release addressed several issues, including the 'cancel build' button failing to display if you refreshed your site during a build, pagination errors for the Project page sites list, and better spacing for UI elements.

Features:

  • Released appearance and functionality updates for the Project page.
    • The Project page now displays a full-width list of your branches and a settings tab to edit your project details.
    • When creating a new project, you can select a repository you have not yet connected to CloudCannon.
    • You can use some Markdown syntax in the Project description.
  • Released appearance updates for the Domain page.
    • The Domain page now displays a full-width list of your sites and a settings tab to edit your details.
  • Released appearance updates for the Publish page.
    • The Publish page now displays a full-width field for describing your pull request, as well as Changes and Commits tabs to document your branch activity.
  • The Organization setup task list in the sidebar has new tasks, including prompts to watch our app demonstration video and book a meeting with the CloudCannon team.
  • You can now dismiss tasks from the Organization setup task list.
  • Opening a file in the app now checks for any updates made to structure values since the last time you edited that file. New inputs will appear by default, and you can configure deleted inputs to remove content.
  • Icons in the app now have better resolution and a loading animation. Icons will fall back to a broken icon if they fail to load.
  • Updated the shade of red used for UI elements to pass Web Content Accessibility Guidelines criteria at AA level.
  • New icons and menu text for Organization, site, and account settings to help differentiate each navigation item.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where, in some cases, the error icon would display when a build is running.
  • Fixed an issue where the 'cancel build' button was unavailable if you reloaded your site during a build.
  • Fixed an issue where the Project page sites list would not display more than one results page.
  • Fixed the spacing of elements on the Cloudinary options page to improve clarity.
  • Moved the description paragraphs for 'use an existing branch' and 'create a new branch' on the Create Site page to improve clarity.

Future Changes:

In an upcoming release, we will update the Project page so you can create new branches off of existing branches as well as your main branch.

General fixes

This release addressed issues affecting jQuery, the CloudCannon configuration file prompt, and missing icons in rich text editors.

Fixes:

  • jQuery is now loaded from the CloudCannon CDN instead of jQuery CDN to support CloudCannon loading more reliably.
  • CloudCannon configuration file prompt will no longer appear if CLOUDCANNON_CONFIG_PATH is set.
  • Fixed an issue where icons were missing from the link, snippet, and image popups in rich text editors.

General fixes

This release addressed issues affecting editor loading, Jekyll sites using Ruby 2.6, and error messaging for client-sharing sites.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where some configurations would prevent editors from loading.
  • Fixed an issue where Jekyll sites using Ruby 2.6 failed to build.
  • Client-sharing sites that have not been built now have better error messaging.

New Eleventy configuration file names supported

This release added additional security measures to our payment processes and support for new Eleventy configuration file names. It also addressed several issues, including 'page not found' errors in the sign-up process, Google Chrome incorrectly displaying the CloudCannon sidebar, and CloudCannon incorrectly reporting GitHub branch protection as a merge conflict.

  • Fixed an issue where some links would result in a 'page not found' error during sign-up.
  • Fixed an issue where CloudCannon would incorrectly report a merge conflict error when GitHub could not merge a branch due to branch protection settings.
  • Fixed an issue where an invalid configuration caused an error with context menus.
  • Fixed an issue where long text caused cards in the Data Editor to overflow.
  • Fixed an issue where CloudCannon did not highlight sites with failed builds in red text on the sites list.
  • Fixed an issue where CloudCannon did not apply instance values from schemas.
  • Fixed an issue where some CloudCannon configurations would generate duplicate collections for Jekyll sites.
  • Fixed an issue where the Google Chrome browser would not render the CloudCannon sidebar correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where some Bookshop sites failed to load in the client editor.
  • Fixed an issue where content security policies prevented sites from loading in the Visual Editor.
  • Updated dependencies to patch security vulnerabilities.

Future Changes:

In an upcoming release, we will update how you view your Projects and Domains.

The Projects page will have a full-width list of all your branches and a settings tab to edit your project details.

In addition to a new aesthetic, we will also have some functionality changes. When you create a new project, you will be able to select a repository you have not yet connected to CloudCannon. You will also be able to create new branches off of existing branches and your main branch.

The Domains page will also have a cleaner interface, with navigation that is consistent with other pages in the CloudCannon app.

Security patches

October 5th, 2023 | Minor

This release removed the option to use CloudCannon Legacy and reduced the number of conditions that trigger a build. It also addressed security vulnerabilities and minor spacing issues affecting the Partner Program rewards dashboard.

Features:

  • The option to use CloudCannon Legacy is no longer available. A new Beta is coming soon - thank you for your feedback!
  • Git syncs that only impact the .git folder will no longer trigger builds unless used within the build.

Fixes:

  • Fixed minor spacing issues in the Partner Program rewards page.
  • Updated dependencies to patch security vulnerabilities.

New force push behavior

This release added new options for handling merge commits if CloudCannon detects a force push to your repository. It also addressed security vulnerabilities and issues affecting the template deploy button and image path deletion.

Features:

  • When you force push to your repository, CloudCannon will offer remediation options to prevent unexpected merge commits.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where template deploy buttons had a 404 error.
  • Fixed an issue where an image with a relative path would have its path removed.
  • Updated dependencies to patch security vulnerabilities.

Partner Program dashboard and rewards page

September 29th, 2023 | Major

This release improved the visibility of points and rewards for members of our Partner Program, including an updated dashboard and rewards page. It also made UI elements throughout the app more consistent and added the option to omit extra parameters in Cloudinary URLs.

This release addressed issues affecting error codes from Bitbucket and GitLab and inconsistently saved parameters for Cloudinary URLs.

Features:

  • Released updates for the Organizations and Partner dashboards. Members of our Partner Program can now use their dashboard to navigate all organizations and clients easily.
  • Released the Partner rewards page, available to members of our Partner Program. This page lets members track total points, how they were earned, and download partner badges (Gold tier and higher). Members can also view all CloudCannon rewards earned, and the rewards available at the next program tier.
  • Reworked some UI elements to be more consistent throughout the app.
  • Added the option to always omit extra parameters when saving a Cloudinary URL. Please see our documentation for creating a Cloudinary DAM.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where CloudCannon would incorrectly report error codes from the Bitbucket and GitLab APIs.
  • Fixed an issue where CloudCannon saved Cloudinary URL parameters inconsistently.

Cloudinary uploads are automatically signed

This release added an automatic signature to uploads through the Cloudinary widget, a check box to lock uploads, and updated dependencies for Node and Hugo. It also addressed an issue affecting invoice emails.

Features:

  • Uploads using the Cloudinary widget are now signed automatically.
  • You can prevent uploads to your Cloudinary DAM by checking 'uploads locked'. This is now independent of your preset. 'Uploads locked' is automatically enabled for users with no preset to maintain expected behavior.
  • Updated dependencies for Node and Hugo.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where users could unsubscribe from invoice emails.

Fixed access to Targets tab for Client Sharing users

This release addressed security vulnerabilities, removed autocomplete options from password fields, and reviewed the access control checks for admin-level API endpoints. It also addressed issues affecting access to the Targets tab by Client Sharing users, and special characters preventing file list loading.

Fixes:

  • Updated dependencies to patch security vulnerabilities.
  • Removed autocomplete options from password fields in the CloudCannon app.

  • Fixed an issue where Client Sharing users could not access the Targets tab for form submissions.

This release addressed issues affecting site migration from NetlifyCMS, the capacity for the owner of a partner organization to manage team members in client organizations, context menus opening in the wrong place, and bold text in the rich text editor.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where CloudCannon could not load your site if there was more than one NetlifyCMS config file found during site migration.
  • Fixed an issue where the owner of a partner organization could not manage team members in client organizations.
  • Fixed an issue where context menus were opening in the incorrect place.
  • Fixed an issue where bold text was escaped if followed by a space.
